JASON POLLACK, LEAD GUITARIST for Seven Mary Three, firmly believes that
classic American rock and roll could very well be the next big thing.
"Alternative isn't the flavor of the month anymore," says Pollock. And
audiences seem to agree, judging by the brisk sales of the band's debut
album, American Standard (Mammoth), and by the way their single,
"Cumbersome," has stormed the college radio charts in several months.

Defiantly retro, Pollack and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Jason Ross
formed the band two and a half years ago based on their mutual
admiration of Neil Young, the Allman Brothers and John Cougar Mellencamp.
"I think of our songs as a refuge," explains Pollack." We create a
comfortable space where the listener can hear each drum beat, bass line
and the melody of the vocal over the top. There is no noise, everything
has is place and wraps neatly into a single whole."

And as for their somewhat cryptic moniker, Ross confesses: "People
like to interpret it in a lot of different ways. My professors thought it
was a reference to something medieval, that it had to do with the
Trinity, the Virgin Mary and the seven deadly sins. But to tell you the
truth, we came up with the name one day just sitting around watching
[Seventies cop show] C.H.i.P.s. on TV -- 'seven mary three' was the blond
guy's call sign!"
